iTunes – Over 1 Billion Apps Served

By Peter | April 24th, 2009

As of yesterday, my household is now home to a new bouncing baby iPhone. Apparently though, we’re a bit late to the game. I know this because Apple just announced that iTunes has now served up over 1 billion piping hot downloads to hungry consumers.

It’s a pretty impressive accomplishment, especially given the fact the iTunes App Store has only been operational for about 9 months. But obviously good things happen when you’re adding over 7 million to your potential user-base every month.

The one billionth app, by the way, was “Bump”, downloaded by a thirteen year old kid named Connor Mulcahey. I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking that Apple must be very relieved they removed the controversial “Baby Shaker” app earlier this week, thus ensuring it wasn’t the attention-grabbing 1 billionth app downloaded.
